This is a curious world. A world of weird behaviours. A world of stark differences. A world of mixed emotions and of multiple possibilities. A world where we don’t even know what is real and what is not.
These are strange times, where we no longer understand what is wrong and what is right. A time, where we just follow the stereotypes and try to fit in. A time in which everything is nothing but a clichรฉ about something.
A very peculiar incident today made me realise the meaning of the quote:
We are all sinners, who judge others for sinning differently
If your normal guy makes a joke about something, it can be racist, it can be outrageous, it can be outright insulting. However, if the same joke is cracked by a comedian, whom you paid money to listen to, you laugh and clap with ecstasy. Uncanny, isn’t it?!
When you try to purchase an Armani wallet from the certified showroom, you are ready to pay the top buck for it. However, you bargain and try to get the best deal from that poor hawker selling the exact same wallet, the Armani tag notwithstanding.
There are many, many, many such examples to speak off. But that does not serve the point. The fact of the matter is that people turn to stereotyping when they run out of originality and creativity.
The problem is that people don’t understand when to back off. And when they do finally understand it, there is no option left to retreat. Even if there is, taking it would mean a so call drop in standing in social strata. And this standing is so important that time and again people are ready to kill one-another for it.
Fortunately for me, I have been gifted with a penchant for observation of human behaviour. Rather than being irritated and angry, most of the times I observe the actions of different people meticulously. Though, this sometimes backfires too, for instance, once I did not realise that my best friend was standing right in front of me because I was so engrossed in my own thoughts, thereby receiving a tight slap from him.๐
And from my uncountable observations of human nature, I have realised one eternal truth-
People judge a movie by judging how others judge it.
For example, if one or two bloggers like a particular post, you may as well ignore it altogether. But if the same post is liked by 100 bloggers, you will definitely give it a glance atleast, if not read it fully.
Remember, in any matter,
keep it simple and listen to your heart and your conscience, not to what others say about it or how others perceive it to be. Because, seldom is you heart and conscience wrong.
Adieu

Here I am reading your blog this morning, I had a similar discussion with my husband last night. I told him that we are programmed to judge, like, hate, ridicule things based on the perception of others instead of our own judgement. I’m not in any way perfect because I used to do the same, but it’s like once you’ve awakened from that you see the world and people in general, differently. I now read the blogs with few likes, visit like blogs with few members. For me, all form or racism is bad, whether said at home or a famous comedian. I don’t believe there any such thing as a sin, it’s a word we created to judge others. There’s only unacceptable behaviour, but what’s normal to the spider is chaos to the fly, so what is sin? It’s like beauty, it’s in the eye of the beholder.
One thing I haven’t given up- I still do bargain hunting only I do it at the merchants instead of the street vendors ๐ lol!

Thank you for reblogging this amazing article . It is so true and I find myself in a situation that is really odd and strange. So many contradictory things happen to me and I find it very very hard to stay true to myself and my beliefs it always comes something in my way that makes me wonder ,and it shouldn’t . We live in a time of constant changings and we need to fight hard to stay true ourselves.

You’re most welcome, Shrey has a lot of wonderful blogs worth sharing ๐ But you’re right the time we live is constantly and changing fast, so it takes a lot more work to stay true to ourselves.

People certainly do judge by how others judge, humans are complex and do many things born of deep insecurity and fear. But sometimes, something is liked by a lot of people for good reason. I agree that each thing should be judged on its own merit, and we shouldn’t be afraid to like things others don’t, variety is the spice of life, after all. ๐ You make some great points!

Hi! I see that you liked my post, I am curious how mine came across your feed. I enjoyed reading your post yet we don’t have terribly much in common. My posts are just musing of a Momma of 5, well sometimes more kiddos, teacher, and a nonprofit founder just finding her way. Thanks for your time and Merry Christmas!

I used to be judgemental …but I paid a price for it …came to realise that everyone is evolving at a different level at a different time …a variety of people …a variety of opinions …who -who can we go on trying to explain …judging and gossips are in a way connected …one should just accept the people as they are …as you are not walking in their own shoes …this is better as leads to a peaceful life …yes I totally agree that people have a mob mentality …its really always better to listen to your heart …it is difficult if an authority does not sync with the decisions your conscience has made …standing by ones own heart also needs guts…
